Ponderosa State Park preserves a narrow, wooded peninsula in Payette Lake. Visitors can hike or bike on the several trails which run along the lake's coastline and the surrounding forest, as well as canoe, kayak, take a guided walk, picnic, see wildlife, or if pressed for time, drive along the peninsula. The park has 198 tent and RV sites with shower facilities.

Located near Yellowstone National Park, Harriman State Park is the heart of the 16,000-acre Harriman Wildlife Refuge. known for its beautiful green meadows, lush evergreen forests and wildlife, which includes moose, elk, trumpeter swans, and sandhill cranes, the park is also an internationally known fishing destination. At the center of the park stand 27 buildings which make up the historic Railroad Ranch (tours available on summer weekends). The park has 20 miles of multi-use trails, and and also includes the impressive Mesa Falls, pictured above.

Bruneau Dunes
Bruneau, Idaho

Bruneau State Park, which consists of large sand dunes rising above marshes and lakes, contains North America's highest single-structured sand dune, which is approximately 470 feet high. The dunes can be explored by hiking or horseback riding, and the park visitor center has exhibits on the area's natural history. Swimming, birdwatching, fishing, and stargazing at the public observatory are also popular activities in the park. The park has 98 tent and RV sites, with showers.
