Mueller State Park is a 5,000 acre park of meadows, forested ridges, granite rocks, and ponds. The park has a wide range of plant, from wildflowers to grasses to trees like Spruce, Pine, and Fir. Elk, black bear, eagles, hawks, and bighorn sheep are among the types of wildlife which can be spotted in Mueller State Park. Recreational opportunities include hiking the park's 55 miles of trails, biking, hunting, horseback riding, and snowshoeing, sledding, and snowtubing in the winter. The park visitor center has indoor and outdoor exhibits, as well as park information and maps. 132 campsites are available in the park.

Roxborough

Roxborough State Park is located in central Colorado, and is known for its dramatic red-rock formations and its wide range of wildlife. Mammals which can be found in the park include black bears, coyotes, elk, foxes, mountain lions, prairie dogs, and mule deer. The park also has 145 species of birds, 50 species of butterflies and moths, and 11 reptile and amphibian species. Many overlooks provide stunning views of the red-rock formations and forest-covered mountains, the most accessible being the Fountain Valley Overlook. The park has six hiking trails and a visitor center with exhibits, restrooms, and a bookstore. No camping is allowed in the park.

Golden Gate Canyon

Golden Gate Canyon State Park, located in Northern Colorado, has rocky peaks, grassy meadows, and dense forest. The park has over 36 miles of hiking trails, and recreational activities in the park include hunting, mountain biking, and horseback riding. In the winter, visitors can go cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, ice fishing, and ice skating. A visitor center, 97 campsites with showers, five cabins, and two yurts are among the facilities the park offers.
