State Parks


A state park is a park or protected area which is managed by the state. They are usually smaller than National Parks. The United States currently has around 2,200 state park units, according to the National Association of State Park Directors. They receive 725 million annual visits combined, compared to the 276 million of the National Parks. The state with the most state parks is California, with 280.
