There are 90 National Historic Sites in the United States. Unlike a historical park, they tend to only preserve one historically significant building or area. Places that are national historic sites include Ford's Theatre, where Lincoln was shot, the birthplaces/homes of many presidents, Japanese internment camps, and Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in the Americas.
